We encourage you to join us in a spirit of community as reflected in our Church Vision as we strive to make anyone and everyone feel welcome, wanted, informed, and appreciated. By doing so, we are also operating in the spirit of servitude as demonstrated by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Embrace the spirit of worship and receive the spirit of hospitality up-close and personal as we welcome you, “an angel incognito,” to worship and fellowship with your friends in the faith at Mt. Calvary.

Question:

How Does One Become A Christian?

Answer:
Plenty of opinions abound in answer to this question. Some say that living a moral life makes a person a Christian. Others declare that joining a church or being baptized makes a person a Christian. Still others call for a person to “make a decision” or “pray the prayer” or “ask Jesus into your heart.” While opinions may be important, the one vital thing when speaking of becoming a Christian is what does God say about this in His Word?
God has given His Word – the Bible – to reveal Himself, His purpose for man, and the way to know Him personally. Everything a person needs to know about becoming a Christian can be found in God’s Word. As God gives a person understanding of the gospel (the good news of how God, in Christ has provided salvation for man), then that person can come to the point of genuine faith in Jesus Christ and, consequently, become a Christian.

If you love gospel music, both old school and new school, our worship team of choirs, musicians, and lay leaders encourage you to join in full participation through singing, clapping, and lifting your hands. Answer:
Mt. Calvary Baptist Church is committed to community transformation. We extend ourselves into the local community by providing a food pantry, prison outreach,  MCBC Academy (an after school program), ‘Back to School’ Program, scholarships for graduating students of the church, and Evangelism Ministry to reach the lost. Ultimately, our purpose for serving those in need is to bring glory to God. When people see God’s love exemplified through his people in practical ways, it proves that God’s love can prevail over selfishness and indifference. Our goal is to be a light in the community. “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven”. (Matthew 5:16). We are a Christian community within the community that transforms the community.

Question:
ARE WE A NATION STILL UNDER GOD?
Answer:
The headline IN USA Today reads, “AMERICA IS BECOMING LESS CHRISTIAN, LESS RELIGIOUS.” I believe there are many reasons for this and I do not expect all of you to agree with me, but some of the reasons are: · A less aggressive approach to evangelism. · A greater emphasis on the act of worship than a life committed to the One we worship. · Soft evangelicalism: In other words, more style than substance (my words). · Church attendance and loyalty has become less attractive due to the contention and division many churches experience. · The fragmented family: So many who attend church “swap” children on the weekends and the issue of church is a lesser front-burner item. · Our world is changing. We are a nation under God who have denied His Lordship. “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?” (Luke 6:46). · Disgraced, high-profile clergy. — HBL

Question:
Marriage or Cohabit?
Answer:
A sermon series entitled: “Sex, Love and Communication” was prepared because many who were joining the church were cohabiting. But marriage is sacred. It’s not just a piece of paper. Jesus Christ believed in marriage — one man and one woman — living in covenant with one another, as evident, by his attendance at a wedding in Cana of Galilee.
So, I’m not telling you to run out and get married. But I am saying, if you got someone you believe God’s put you with for the rest of your life, there’s a special blessing when you get married. Nevertheless, many people are living together and having kids together. For whatever reason, they are running away from marriage. However, I am convinced God bestows a special blessing on those who tie the knot. And when you’re married “God’s way, it gets better and better, not worse and worse” When a man and woman are loving to each other as God intended, it portrays the love of God to each other and to the world like nothing else.
